Arthur is a curmudgeonly old man from the Metropolis Zone who lives with his long-suffering wife, Madge. Living on his pension, Arthur preferred a simple life, putting away some money to go to the pub every now and then.
Arthur's life was disrupted when Madge allowed an amnesiac Super Sonic to live in their house. The grumpy elder disliked Super Sonic and his constant nightmares, wishing he could "endure them somewhere else". He fought with Madge over Super, accidentally revealing that he may have preferred life when Doctor Robotnik was in charge. He was happy when Super declared his intentions to leave, convincing Madge that it was a good idea (and wondered why he married he her), but was less than pleased when his wife handed Super Sonic his beer money.
He later returned with his wife in Sonic the Comic Online, having been duped into joining the Sky Pirates instead of going on a relaxing cruise. Arthur's lot was still an unhappy one, with the grumpy husband forced to carry Madge's many bags on and off the ship.

- Arthur is very similar to Harold Mudd, a resident of New Tek City. In fact, the Mudds were created because Nigel Kitching forgot that Arthur lived in the Metropolis Zone, having to be reminded by Richard Elson.
