Chameleoncircuit

The villains alter their chameleon circuits (on their left wrists). Art by Nigel Dobbyn.

Chameleon circuits are devices invented by Mr Delta. When turned into a robot's exact frequency, the robot would no longer be able to see or hear the wearer of a chameleon circuit.

Usage[]

Mr Delta, Ms Alpha, Mr Beta and Mr Gamma all wore one when invading the Floating Island, but there was a substantial delay in analysing the Guardian Robots' frequencies. Delta was able to activate the circuits just before Gamma could be attacked. The giraffe expressed amazement that the chameleon circuits worked, offending Delta.

Later, it appeared that the chameleon circuits had failed when the Guardian Robots arrived to thwart the gang and save Knuckles the Echidna. In reality, Porker Lewis was piloting the lead robot and order the other guardians to follow him. Delta was left distraught by what he thought was a complete failure of his invention.

Trivia[]

Etymology[]

  • Chameleon circuits are so called because they attempt to imitate a chameleon's ability to blend into its surroundings. However, while a chameleon can change its colour to match its environment, effectively rendering itself invisible from certain angles, Mr Delta's chameleon circuits only make the wearer invisible to robots.

Other media[]

  • Chameleon circuits are perhaps better known from their appearance in Doctor Who. They are used to disguise a TARDIS, changing its exterior appearance to blend in with its surroundings.
