Combinik was a Badnik designed by Doctor Robotnik to defeat Sonic the Hedgehog. Unlike his previous creations, the Combinik was a combination of three previous Badniks (seemingly Mantis, Tunnelbot, and Pointdexter) and was much harder to defeat. A former organic battery revealed that Robotnik had planned to make all Badniks like this should it have proved successful.
History[]
Sonic first heard of this new Badnik whilst in Kintobor's Laboratory. The Kintobor Computer informed of new Badnik activity in the Marble Garden Zone, prompting him to use the Hyper-Spring in order to get himself (and, inadvertantly, Amy Rose) to the Floating Island.
After destroying a Pointdexter, Sonic learned from its former prisoner that the Combinik was a combination of three Badniks. Soon after, the ground caved in and the hedgehogs were greeted by the Combinik tunneling through the walls. Sonic soon discovered that its shell was too hard to be destroyed by a Spin Attack, with Amy's crossbow bolts having similarly little effect. The Combinik followed the heroes outside and across a weak bridge. The walkway cracked due to the Combinik's weight and the robot soon fell into the mud below. Now stuck, the large Badnik exploded to reveal three Flicky batteries.
The experiment was deemed to be a failure, as no more Combiniks were ever built.
Trivia[]
- Its name is a portmanteau of "combine" and "Badnik".
- The Combinik was said to be made of "very hard materials". It is unknown if this was Megatal, as it had not yet been mentioned in Sonic the Comic.
- The version of the Combinik in the story is red, green and blue. The front cover shows it to be predominately red and gold.
