The Desolate Dust Zone is a Zone on Mobius. As the name suggests, it is an expansive, rocky desert that contains very few landmarks. In fact, the only building in the Zone is said to be a Badnik Processing Plant, specifially built there by Doctor Ivo Robotnik as part of a plan to trick Sonic the Hedgehog.
History[]
During the rise of the New Robotnik Empire, Robotnik decided to destroy the Metropolis Zone by causing the Wing Fortress to crash into it. Robotnik hoped to have Sonic trapped on the ship at the moment of impact and constructed a complex plot to lure him there.
The plan began with the construction of an obvious factory in the Desolate Dust Zone, making it the only building in the entire region. To make things even less subtle, Robotnik had an image of his face painted on the side, just to ensure he could get Sonic's attention. Sure enough, Sonic discovered the plant and destroyed it, grabbing "secret plans" from a Trooper in the process. Discovering that Robotnik had rebuilt the Wing Fortress, Sonic leapt through a hole in the roof and left the Zone.
