Silver the Hedgehog

Silver the Hedgehog is a psychic hedgehog and G.U.N. agent from an apocalyptic future. He describes himself as the last hope of Mobius. Silver made his first appearance in Sonic the Comic Online Issue 255 in Last Hero Standing

Future[]

If Silver can be taken to be in his mid-teens, like in the games, he was born around 55 years into Mobius' future, to as-yet unknown parents. With the world ravaged by Super Sonic, whom the people know as Iblis, Silver joined G.U.N.'s battle against the demon as soon as he was old and strong enough to fight. After several years of fighting but never defeating Iblis, Silver grew weary of fighting and was willing to end the battle by any means necessary, including time travel. After retrieving the three remaining Chaos Emeralds and the now ancient Knuckles from the Floating Island, the time portal was activated, just as Iblis launched an early attack. As a massive explosion erupted behind him, signifying the loss of Knuckles and his friends, Silver and his portable intel device, A.G., began their journey 70 years back in time, to a point where Iblis was relatively weak.

Silver's Mission[]

Upon his arrival, Silver was moved to tears by Mobius' former beauty. He almost immediately after met Tails and The Ultimax and was awestruck, having grown up hearing stories of the new Hero of Mobius. There are gaps in Silver's history though: In all the stories Silver had been told, there was no mention of Sonic the Hedgehog. Indeed, Tails had replaced Sonic in all the stories. Silver worried that he had altered history simply by travelling back in time, until he learned that the creature he knows as Iblis is actually Super Sonic. Deciding that Sonic was the source of the future's misery, Silver downloaded all data on the fallen hero and his most recent sightings to A.G., and set off for South Island, intending to kill Sonic, leaving Tails and the Ultimax with a real predicament: How to protect Sonic without being seen helping a known fugitive.

On his way to find Sonic, Silver met Blaze the Cat, herself embarking on what she thought was her first foray through time. He explained that he was eager to save his future, but Blaze revealed that The Burning, what destroyed her time, was not caused by the Iblis at all. This didn't diminish Silver's resolve and headed to intervene in a battle between Sonic and a pair of Detoniks. Using his psychokinesis, he easily dismantled the threats and freed the organic batteries, leaving him alone with Sonic. Despite a couple of hits from Sonic, Silver easily had the advantage by throwing objects Sonic's way or gripping mid-vortex and throwing him into a cliff. The only thing stopping him from killing Sonic once and for all was an appearance from Death-Trap, who had their own reasons for wanting to capture Sonic.

Silver recovers in time to watch the news reporting that the Iblis has been released and that Silver is too late to stop him. He staggers to Tails' base of operations where he implores Tails to be the hero that Silver's future believes him to be. Shortly afterwards, Super Sonic destroys the centre of the Emerald Hill Zone but is interrupted in his celebrations by Silver, who levitates several massive rocks directly at him. His tactics of conjuring sharp boulders below Super and crushing him with rocks seems to be working, but Super Sonic reveals that he wasn't even trying and Silver is left chasing after the Chaos Control-utilising demon. He catches up to Super as the villain assaults Knuckles, burying him in the ground and throwing the Chaos Containment Collar to the Omni-Viewer to charge him up and release the Chaotix Crew. He can only watch on as Chaotix are pummelled by Super Sonic, but the Ultimax arrive and Silver uses his psychokinesis to launch Knuckles and Theo at him. Silver then restrains Super in place, along with Knuckles, Theo, Espio the Chameleon and Mighty the Armadillo but is easily blasted away. He is powerless to stop Super Sonic from attacking the Floating Island, but watches as Tails' plan comes to fruition.

Living Paradox[]

His original mission complete, Silver took to fighting regular crime on Mobius. He took on Brains & Brawn in the Blue Coast Zone but his powers began to wane and his connection with A.G. was severed. Silver travels to Never Lake to grab a Time Stone from the Miracle Planet but the world isn't due to appear again for another three days. Tails recounts the events of The Sonic Terminator, confirming to Silver that erasing a past event prevented Metallix from ever existing. Tails realises he has accidentally offended Silver by insinuating that everyone Silver knew no longer exist, but the situation worsens when Silver seems to be fading away. Silver is taken into Vector the Crocodile's portable lab for tests and confirms that Silver has created a paradox by rewriting history, one that is seeing him cease to exist. Realising that the Time Stone could cure him, Tails finds the Femni-Viewer so that they can transport Silver three days into the future to fetch one. Problem is - she can't see Silver! The future hero laments his passing but is glad to have met Tails and knows he will live again in the future. Unbelievably, the Miracle Planet arrives three days early and Tails gives Silver a lift to the planet above. Later that evening, Silver uses his returned powers to stop Brain & Brawns once and for all.

The Fight Against Robotnik[]

Silver was present in the Battle of Emerald Hill, leading the fight against the Egg Bastion and personally being the one to smash open an entrance to the base and confront Doctor Robotnik himself. He was aghast, however, to find that Robotnik had already moved.
