Orbinauts are first-generation Badnik robots created by Dr. Robotnik. They first appeared in Issue 1 of Sonic the Comic and are based on the enemies from the Sonic the Hedgehog video game.
As the name implies, Orbinauts are completely spherical, their bodies' only feature being their eyes. The Orbinaut is surrounded by four spikey orbs that act as a weapon and shield. They constantly rotate around the body and will severely maim anyone who ventures too close. The spikeballs can also be launched directly at enemies, although this attack will leave the Orbinaut defenseless.
Similar badniks are the Sol (red Orbinauts surrounded by fire) and the Star Pointer (slower versions based in the Ice Cap Zone).
