Story[]

The doorbell rings one morning in Castle Frank N Stein and Igor is dispatched to go answer it, hoping it's not another window cleaner. It turns out to be a very excited Chuck however, who has found a four leaf clover and thinks he's set to become the luckiest monster in Transylvania. The Prof however reveals, once Chuck has left, that he has in fact been experimenting with GM crops and grown a garden full of four leaf clovers, with which he plans to make a fortune. Weeks later, the Prof has opened Wishy Washy down in the village (unfortunately, it only sells good luck charms as the washing machines for the laundry aspect haven't arrived yet) and he is making a killing. Just as Head complains that his Facebook friends want to buy and sell him as a pet, he is sold by the money-hungry Prof to an old lady who also thinks he'd make a great pet, and by the end of the day, the Prof is rich beyond his wildest dreams, though having second thoughts about the shop's name. His mood is immediately spoiled by a man from the Inland Revenue who takes all Stein's money, several men who remove several elements of the store on health and safety grounds, and finally a man from Trading Standards here to remove all the clovers following reports of them being defective. A look outside reveals the village to be in ruins, the clovers bringing even worse luck to people. The Prof's thoughts then drift to Chuck, who he hasn't seen in weeks since he got his clover. Sure enough, Chuck is in the castle dungeon, hanging next to the Blockbusters contestant who is still trying to guess that elusive D, even though they don't even make Blockbusters anymore....

Trivia[]

  • A gravestone for Kevin the Bat is visible in the final panel of page 1.
  • One of the shops in Transylvania is named as Dark Star Comics, a reference to the fictional comics company from the British comedy series, Spaced.
  • The Maltese Budgies are advertised as being back in stock in the shop next door to Dark Star. Indeed, the Budgies themselves are seen in silhouette at the end of the story.
  • Chuck's dream in Decap-Man may not have been one after all, as a poster in an alley asks 'where is Decap-Man?'
  • Cream the Rabbit makes an appearance, bound and gagged in the room marked 'lucky rabbit feet.'
  • The script and art process for the first page was published in Sonic the Easter Special as "Script to Strip". Two pin-ups from the comic were also featured in the issue.
