Helicopter

Rat Bratt's helicopter, art by Mick McMahon.

Not to be confused with Chopper, a Badnik and slang name for a helicopter.

Helicopters are flying vehicles that are propelled upwards by a number of rotor blades spinning rapidly. Although not as fast as planes, they are more mobile and can hover in place, proving useful as a rescue or transport vehicle. A few have appeared in Sonic the Comic:

  • Mr X and Warren arrived on the Princess Grace using a helicopter. They would have escaped on it as well had the pilot not flown away in a panic before being destroyed by a bomb thrown by Skates. In the same story, honest police arrived to rescue the survivors of the terrorist attack a megaphone-equipped 'copter ordered Skates not to shoot Mr X.
  • Roger Bodge invented a helicopter that allowed Tails to fight Windy Wallis when his tails were sprained and his plane was clamped. An odd hybrid with a toilet, the helicopter proved to be as useless as all of Bodge's devices, crumbling apart from a hint of snow.
  • During a race with Rat Bratt, Tails suggested that a helicopter following the action was not a news helicopter. Sure enough, Bratt had been swapping places with his twin brother throughout the race, the siblings swapping places at each checkpoint and racing ahead to the next one in the helicopter. Tails pointed this out to a watching crowd, showing them the vehicle behind some bushes.
  • The Polarzone police force used a helicopter to come and arrest bank robber Claws.

Furthermore, Tails' flight is very similar to a helicopter, the fox spinning his two tails around rapidly to create an updraft, despite the impossibility of this action.
