Stories

Sonic the Hedgehog

Enter Knuckles is a 2-part Sonic story, introducing Knuckles the Echidna to the main comic for the first time. The story was written by Nigel Kitching, drawn by Richard Elson and lettered by Ellie de Ville. Doctor Robotnik's latest Death Egg has crash-landed and the Freedom Fighters have discovered its whereabouts on the legendary Floating Island. After doing their best to avoid the island's pitfalls, Sonic and Tails find Robotnik, only to find he's now protected by the island's guardian, Knuckles the Echidna!

Mutant League

Bring Me The Head of Coach Brikka! is a 6-part story, with writing from Steve White and Brian Williamson, art by Anthony Williams and Williamson, and lettering by Tom Frame. The 'game' is in full swing. The Midway Monsters now have The Razor Kid and a tank on their side, but the Slaycity Slayers are on a mission and deploy a giant to tear into the Monsters' rescue operation. The Kid is saved by his screaming fan-club and a sweaty hanky keeps the others at bay, for now. Elsewhere, the killer robots are ready...

Sonic's World

No More Mr. Nice Bug is a 3-part story, introducing B.A.R.F.. A Trooper has failed and Cam and Bert are not happy. After turning him into a modern work of art, they use a Sonic balloon to weed out the Niceniks from the regular Moto Bug Badniks. Said Niceniks are patrolling the Green Hill Zone, looking for perfect flowers and aren't happy about the forces of evil killing the plants. They especially take an exception to B.A.R.F.. The story is written by Mark Eyles, art by Mike Hadley and John M Burns, with lettering by Elitta Fell.

Pirate S.T.C.

Pirate S.T.C. is a 6-part story, handled by Stephen Bliss with lettering from Steve Potter. The couch potatoes are locked in battle with all of their opponents, but don't seem to be doing well as a team. The destruction of Granee 8-Ball results in the birth of carrot-shooting pigs, which prove to be more of a help than a hindrance. Fezhead and Skull eventually arrive to spray the area with love spray and take the new 'commandos' to the 'next level'.

Features

This issue's Control Zone, hosted by Megadroid, introduces this issue's stories, as well as the free gift and a chance to win a mountain bike. There's also information on next fortnight's price hike of 5p and the Sega Bus, plus an apology for the unusually short Review Zone. The Sega Charts see that World Cup USA '94 is still top of both the Master System and Game Gear charts. Pete Sampras Tennis has moved to the top of the Mega Drive list, whilst FIFA International Soccer is a new entry at the top of the Saturn chart.

The shortened Review Zone features Champions World Class Soccer Endorsed by Ryan Giggs, a negative review from Nick Protz which gains 65%. The News Zone reveals information on the new Pitfall game, Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure, along with Lemmings 2: The Tribes. Short Bursts also gives news on Sylvester and Tweety, Animaniacs, Wizard Pinball, Marko's Magic Football, Bloodshot, Flying Nightmares, F1 '94 and UK Gold's Sega releases.

The Graphic Zone's theme of the week covers motorbike pictures, mainly of Sonic, with those getting published receiving a Sonic 2 badge. Part 2 of the Eternal Champions special was covered in the Q Zone, with tips on how to use Midknight, Shadow Yamoto and Xavier Pendragon. Finally, Speedlines features several letters as usual; one reader asks for a new Ecco the Dolphin story, another requests previous free gift of tattoos to be sold in shops, a happy 1st birthday and a question - should a reader get a Mega Drive or a Mega-CD? Pictures also saw Tails in his Nameless Zone guise and a mixed-up Sonic and Megadroid. Winners received a Tomy Sonic the Hedgehog Water Fun Game.
