Issue 51 is the fifty-first edition of Sonic the Comic. Released on the 28th April 1995, the issue contains four original stories (two of them new) and several features, as well as a free gift of STC tattoos and a Shinobi pin-up by Jon Haward.

Sonic the Hedgehog[]
Disaster! is a 3-part story by Nigel Kitching, Richard Elson and Elitta Fell. Trapped on the falling Sky Sanctuary Zone, Sonic and Knuckles the Echidna are witness to the rise of the Death Egg. As the pair decide to glide to safety, Doctor Robotnik releases a group of EggRobos that inadvertantly allow Sonic to gain access to the ship. On board, he fights a squadron of Spikebonkers whilst Knuckles learns how to move the Floating Island.
Shinobi[]
Power of the Elements is a 5-part story written by Alan McKenzie, drawn by Haward and lettered by Tom Frame. Kotomi-sensei has been shot, but he has the power to remove the bullet and heal his wound. The Roofworlders prepare for another attack by capturing the Yakuza and surrounding the Four Elements. The fight starts badly, with Joe Musashi falling to Air.
Tails[]
Zonerunner & The Big Freeze is a 4-part story written by Kitching, art by Roberto Corona and Brian Williamson and lettering by Steve Potter. Tails has been captured by Nutzan Bolt but uttering Sonic's name causes the robot to accidentally melt his icy body. The head then begins to melt his own Ice Castle, with chemicals rushing through the whole Chemical Plant Zone. Using Tails' microputer, Sab stablises conditions and Tails goes home a hero.
Sonic's World[]
Face From The Past is a 2-part story written by Lew Stringer, drawn by Gary Andrews and lettered by Fell. Grimer has created a new foe for Sonic, a brown hedgehog designed to trick the Freedom Fighters. In the Jungle Zone, the heroes ambush a Trooper patrol and rescue some civilians, the brown hedgehog being one of them. He pretends that he is Sonic's long-lost brother. Sonic doesn't buy it, so "Tonic" runs off crying. However, when Tails follows, he learns that this new "friend" is actually a form of Metamorphia.
Features[]
Megadroid hosts the Control Zone, introducing the issue's stories and features, whilst looking forward to the 2nd birthday treats in Issue 53. There is also a step-by-step guide on how to use this issue's free gift. The Sega Charts have completely unchanged leaders this week, with FIFA Soccer '95, Ground Zero Texas, Chuck Rock 2 and Sonic 2 still topping the Mega Drive, Mega-CD, Master System and Game Gear charts, respectively.
This week's Review Zone sees Nick Protz award the "familiar" Speedy Gonzales and the Cheese Cat-Astrophe just 68%, whilst David Gibbon is more favourable towards The Scottish Open on the 32X, giving it 91%. The theme of the Graphic Zone is keeping fit after Easter with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and even Doctor Robotnik losing weight. Responsible Boomers received an original Sonic badge.
Gibbon returns in the Q Zone, providing Part 1 of an Earthworm Jim special that deals with the first four levels. Speedlines sees Megadroid answer letters about the late entries in the Review Zone, the colour-changing Megadroid, and a rather un-related letter from a 'The Hobbit' fan. All printed letters were awarded with a Tomy Sonic the Hedgehog Water Fun Game.
