Story[]

Construction workers are continuing to work on bulldozing the remains of Citadel Robotnik, but their efforts are stopped by the appearance of a lone Balkiry Badnik. Tails volunteers to stop it, but narrowly misses its new electric blasts. A second shot goes stray, hitting an exposed cable that runs underground. As Tails smashes the robot and frees the Flicky inside, the electrical wildfire leads to a forgotten robot under the ground and reactivates it.

Above ground, Tails lets the workers get back to business, but is soon called back into action when "Kog" crashes through the remains. The construction men and women watch on eagerly for Tails to trash the old robot, but Tails isn't sure it's a threat. His fears are confirmed when the robot begins searching for "kind and caring creator Doctor Robotnik", so Tails has to explain what happened many years ago to Doctor Kintobor. Kog explains that he was Kintobor's first robot and would shut him down at night to get some rest. Turning into Robotnik made the doctor forget all about him. The memories are interrupted when one of the workers scoops up Kog in a bulldozer, ready to get "good money" for him at the scrap heap. Tails angrily pulls the driver out of the vehicle. He then reveals that Kog could teach people a lot about history, with "loads" of information in Kog's memory circuits. After a clean-up, Kog talks to a captive audience about the Metropolis Zone one being all fields and the location of Kintobor's first test-drive.

Trivia[]

  • If Kog had been one of Kintobor's first robots, he perhaps should have been in the Emerald Hill Zone.
  • Kog incorrectly refers to his "kind" master as Robotnik, despite knowing his name.
  • A child refers to Kog's lecture as "more interesting than any history lesson", despite the talk being exactly that.

Appearances[]

The previous Tails story was Flip Side. The next is The Unbrushables.
