Story[]
Years ago, after Robotnik fell, numerous wannabe dictators tried to take over, including the highly pathetic Lord Dave. Dave tried to take over the Stone Tower Zone with his own personal arsenal, but was taken down by Sonic and Tekno.
In the present day, a dejected Amy and Chrysalis are dining out at Buddy's Bistro, before Amy gets an alert from the Kintobor Computer, leaving Chrysalis to order the coffees. Lord Dave has returned to the Zone he tried to conquer before, with new weapons and new armour. Tails and Amy arrive, Tails spouting over the top heroic dialogue. Amy, still somewhat distracted, is blasted off the pillar the heroes are standing on. Tails begins to struggle against Lord Dave alone (with Dave initially surprised he's actually suceeding), and his yells for help from Amy go unnoticed, as she laments her inability to keep her guard and admits that they need Sonic. She ponders on the hedgehog's apparent betrayal, and their missing friends, but is inspired by Tails' persistence and belief that as long as one Freedom Fighter remains, they'll keep fighting. Amy rejoins the battle, and downs Lord Dave, shattering his armour with well-aimed arrows and a kick.
She later returns to the now empty restaurant to find Chrysalis telling a clueless Big how to make coffee. Amy acknowleges that things will be harder without Sonic, but she and Tails will deal with it somehow.
Trivia[]
- The last panel mirrors that of Point of No Return!.
- Sonic appears in his original, pre-green eyes form in the flashback.
- Chrysalis first appeared in "The Night Before Christmas".
- This is the first and (so far) only strip where the Freedom Fighters notice Tekno and Shorty are MIA.
