Minotaur

Minotaurs are mythical "half-man, half-bull" creatures from Ancient Greece. They are possessed with immense strength. One popular story involves the Minotaur waiting in the middle of a labyrinth to dispose of all attackers. When Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower ended up in a different dimension, Tails commented that he felt like he was in a maze which, soon enough, they were. He then mentioned the story of the Minotaur and one promptly appeared to attack the heroes. Sonic slowed it down with a Spin Attack, but saw no reason to continue attacking it. They later discovered that it was the creation of a Tantaror child who was playing with his new "pets".

During their travels through the Ring of Eternity, Amy Rose and Tekno the Canary arrived in Ancient Greece and witnessed the Minotaur challenge an obese Hercules to a battle. The beast gloated as Hercules tripped over a chair and was about to land the killing blow when the girls stopped in and knocked the half-bull out. This Minotaur had a cameo at the end of the Eternity Ring story arc when Amy remembered all the dangers that could be faced if Fabian Vane went on a "universe tour".

Minotaur2

The Golden Axe variety by Mike White

Minotaurs were "elite" henchmen of Sorcerer Blackspell and Ul-Tima in The Legend of the Golden Axe. These guards proved too strong for the magic powers of the three heroes, with one reflecting a cast boulder right at the head of Ax-Battler. They were later used by Blackspell to try and recapture Tyris-Flare, hoping to complete the resurrection of Dark Guld.
