Space Invaders is a 1978 video game, commonly regarded as one of the most popular arcade games in history.
Casey was seen playing it at school rather than participate in a football match. Angered with his slacker of a student, Mister Simmons confiscated it and remarked that "finger flexing and button punching" wasn't much of a challenge.

- Since Sonic the Comic is a Sega comic, Casey was probably playing Super Space Invaders '91 as it was the only Space Invaders title to be released on the Game Gear. The console, however, looked nothing like the Game Gear.
