Tony is a child from the Metropolis Zone's North East Sector. The boy is a keen baseball enthusiast, seemingly owning his own bat, ball, cap, pitching glove and knee pads. Unfortunately, his enthusiasm got him in trouble one day when a stray shot hit Sonic the Hedgehog on the back of the head, leading him to believe that a Badnik army was attacking him from behind. As Sonic sped over, a terrified Tony pleaded with Sonic not to hurt him and quickly convinced him that it was an accident.
The altercation between Sonic and Tony was captured on security cameras and broadcast as part of The Inside Story documentary by the Kane Broadcasting Company. Produced by Hobson and Choy, the scene suggested that Sonic was merely attacking members of the public "whose only crime was playing baseball".
