Vegheads

The Veg-Heads are a group of sentient vegetables from the Plowright Zone. They gained life after being subjected to toxic waste that had leaked from the Chemical Plant Zone. Led by King Edward, the Veg-Heads left the soil and moved to conquer the entire Zone.

History[]

Local resident Farmer Nige was amazed to find that his vegetable crops had grown to a massive size, leading him to believe that he would be in for a prize this harvest. However, a couple of onions dislodged themselves from the ground and, at night, took a trip into the town centre. Moving around in shadow, the onions were spotted by Wallace and Doris, prompting an investigation by the townspeople and the arrival of Harry Mole from O.O.E.R.. During his enquiries, Mole learned that the majority of Nige's vegetables had been stolen. However, they both soon found that the vegetables had gained minds of their own. A passing Sonic the Hedgehog helped the Mobians out, but they were all captured by the Veg-Heads' roots. Leader King Edward revealed himself and declared that he was the new ruler of the Zone.

Easily breaking free, Sonic helped the other two and dragged Mole to the Chemical Plant Zone to solve the mystery. In the meantime, Nige was captured by his own turnips, so Sonic was forced to return and create a "mixed salad". Edward was then thwarted by a local mob, who wished to eat the intelligent vegetables. Sonic objected and Nige decided to trust the word of his onions, giving all of the Veg-Heads a patch of his land - as long as they lived in peace.

Trivia[]

  • Although they are called the "Veg-Heads" by everyone, the title of their only story refers to them as "Veg Heads".
  • The vegetables consisted of a potato, carrots, onions, corn, turnips, green beans, cabbage and a tomato (actually a fruit).
  • They are somewhat similar to the Metarex from Sonic X, in that they are both hostile plant-like creatures who seek conquest. The difference is that while the Metarex are taken seriously, the Veg-Heads are not.
