Wasps are a species of insect from Planet Earth and the Special Zone. Although they have close links with farmers due to their use in pest controls, Earth wasps are considered a pest due to their aggressive nature to painfully sting people.
Wasps in Sonic the Comic[]
Wasps were a warlike species in the Special Zone, with bees as their arch-enemy. Led by Vesper, the wasps attempted to invade the Hive on at least two occasions, using a variety of bladed weapons to overcome their more peaceful neighbours. On their final attempt, the wasps were successful and made their way to the throne room to overthrow the Queen Bee. Unfortunately, Sonic the Hedgehog was also present and initially made a fool of the wasps, disarming them all and throwing around their leader. However, he suddenly offered the bees' surrender, before tricking the wasps back to the entrance, where he used his speed to blast them all back into the "weird bit".
Following the Special Zone's destruction at the hands of Shadow the Hedgehog, all wasps seem to have perished, unless they were among the insect refugees warned of the impending disaster by Grimer.
